A Food Blogger Without a Camera…
Farewell, my devoted old $150 Kodak digital camera.
You served me well, through countless times of being dropped, smacked, and abused in some fashion.
Even after your buttons stuck, the lens cover wouldn’t fully close or open without help, and the battery casing needed to be duct-taped, you still took wonderful photos for me time and time again.
When I came into the kitchen on that fateful morning, my breath caught in my throat as I saw you, laying still and silent in a pool of beef broth. It was completely my fault -*I* had forgotten to put the broth away, and it was naturally discovered by those evil creatures that we call “cats.”
I am terribly sorry, but oh-so-grateful for your many years of faithful service. You will be missed.
Love,
Bethany (The Food Blogger Without a Camera)
Dear Readers…
So… now I have no camera and no money in the budget to replace my old camera.
I do have a little backlog of things I’ve yet to blog, but in the long-term I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do. I’ve been wanting a decent DSLR for a while, but unfortunately things are tight and it would be a very long time before I can save up enough for one!
I will keep you all posted, though. And — if you’d like to help, feel free to use my affiliate link to Amazon next time you shop there – any money I make through the blog gets re-invested back into the blog, so it will go into the camera fund! And I am open to any ideas you have as well
So, in the meantime, I’ll be shifting gears a little bit, maybe doing more informative stuff and not so much recipes.

Sorry to hear that, Bethany! I was in the same situation in May, and that\’s what I posted– to expect lots of book reviews, health topics and so forth from me for a while. My husband\’s Nikon that I use for my blog stopped working. It\’s a six-year old DSLR. The newer ones do have better autofocus capabilities and better speed in low light, but this one works just fine for my purposes and a new DSLR is definitely not in the budget. So we sent this one into Nikon repair and crossed our fingers. It was still expensive, a little less than $300. But we got a repaired and completely reconditioned camera for somewhat less than buying the same model used would cost today. I hope you find a camera that can work for you soon, I know how frustrated you must be. In retrospect I realize I could have kept testing and writing up more recipes than I did and photographed them later when I had a camera again.
Mary would love you to read..Got my Nikon D200 repaired!
Thank you! Yeah I would definitely have done what you did… at this point I’ve got a little bit before I need to do something since I do still have stuff I haven’t blogged yet but WHAT a frustration! Especially since I was just going to start making some breadmaking 101 type video classes. Sigh…
Sigh indeed. I hope it turns out well in the long run, that you get something better than what you had and are very happy with it.
Mary would love you to read..Vegan Berry Crisp
Thank you! I’m sure I will, just gotta pray and hope it happens soon
So sorry to hear that, hope that you can buy the new one very soon.
I believe that all readers will stay tune on your blog to see your useful and informative posts even when you are cameraless by now.
Thank you Maria! I’ll try to keep the info coming, so we’ll see if everyone sticks around
